There's A J Dilla-Inspired Donut Shop Opening Up In Detroit

February of 2016 will mark an even decade since the world lost the great J Dilla. And while Donuts still holds as strong today as it did in 2006 (released just three days before his death) Dilla's uncle Herman Hayes (brother to Ma Dukes) is looking to continue the legacy by opening up a flagship store inspired by his prodigious nephew that will sell gourmet circular treats for you to enjoy. Dilla's Delights has been a long time coming, first as a donut car, but after selling out each and every time they put their foot to the pedal, it seemed only right to give the shop the storefront treatment it deserves; a righteous and wholly fitting monument to the man that gave so much to our beloved tradition and continues to inspire nearly ten years after his death. Detroit Daily reports that the store is slated to open later this summer, but the very first photos of the interior have just been published. So you can at least lay your eyes on what the store will look like for now, but be sure to check back with us for the latest on Dilla's Delights and the precise moment that you can got and get your fix. Until then, you can always give Donuts a thousandth run down below.
