‘It’s Me, Hannibal Buress’: Miami Police Release Body Camera Video Of Buress’ Arrest

In December of last year Hannibal Buress was arrested in Miami, Florida, for disorderly intoxication. Now, footage from a police officer present during the arrest has been released.

The eight minute long video, shown via The Miami Herald, finds Buress in an exchange with Officer Luis Verne as the former is seen talking toward the cop’s body camera on a street.

“Hey, whats up?! It’s me, Hannibal Buress,” he says toward the camera laughing. “This cop is stupid as f**k. Hey, put this camera on.”

“Get out of here before…,” Verne responds before the comedian says “Hey what’s up, YouTube.”

“Alright, put your hand behind your back,” Verne says.

“For what?” Buress replies.

“Are you resisting now?” the officer says.

The scene only continues as a trio of Buress fans come across him and the officer and proceed to film the exchange.

“I’m under arrest right now for calling him a bitch-ass ni**a,” Buress laughs as the group continues to record, with one of them telling Verne “You can’t be getting after Hannibal like that!”

The body camera footage was released Tuesday as part of the prosecution’s case against Buress for misdemeanor disorderly intoxication. Verne had initially told Buress he was under arrest for trespassing, although he was only charged for intoxication.

The body camera video did not capture the initial moment between Buress and Verne, where the latter wrote in his police report that Buress asked the cop to call an Uber for him. When the officer declined the comedian became “angry and belligerent,” and proceeded to walk inside a venue where the cop followed him in.

“Once outside, the defendant stood by the front gate and continued yelling profanities,” Verne’s report said. “I, then again, asked him to leave the area about five times. A crowd began to gather and vehicular traffic slowed as they watched the defendant yelling and being disorderly. Defendant arrested.”
