Twelve years in the making, the documentary explores Jones’ upbringing in Jamaica, as well as her transforming into the New York icon she would ultimately become. She also talks about Studio 54 and recounts one memory where Nile Rodgers couldn’t get into the famed club, which became the inspiration for the Chic classic “Le Freak.”
The appearance also includes a preview from the documentary, showing Jones perform “Pull Up To The Bumper.”
Bloodlight and Bami was announced last year. Originally titled Grace Jones – The Musical of My Life, the documentary will be directed by Sophie Fiennes. Jones also released a memoir in 2015 titled I’ll Never Write My Memoirs. The book’s release originally came with a box set featuring music from her The Disco Years phase.
