Mo'Nique Stands by "Sister" Roseanne Barr Following Racist Comment

Mo'Nique: "Roseanne Barr is my sister in comedy."

In a new interview, Mo'Nique addressed the headlines fellow comedian Roseanne Barr made following her racist comments toward Valerie Jarrett.

In May, Barr called the black former Obama White House adviser an "ape" on Twitter. The comment lead to ABC cancelling her rebooted show.

Mo'Nique expressed her support of Barr over the weekend. “Roseanne Barr is my sister in comedy, my universal sister," she told KTLA. "And what I won’t do is throw her away for making a mistake.”

Mo'Nique referenced a time where Barr stood by her in support when she helmed The Mo’Nique Show. The entertainer says when it was difficult for her to book certain talent because the show was “too black,” Roseanne appeared on the show and gave her advice.

“There was a white woman named Roseanne Barr that showed up for me,” she said. “And they didn’t hear the conversation when the cameras wasn’t rolling…That woman was giving me some beautiful words."
