During an interview with Power 105's The Breakfast Club Friday, Matt Barnes revealed some surprising updates on the forthcoming Huey Newton biopic.

When Charlamagne asked the retired basketball player about getting the rights to do the film, Barnes responded, "Yeah, we do. We got about $20million. I think we got Bryan Barber to direct it now. A whole slew of people," and that his team would "be in touch with Beyoncé about playing Angela Davis."
Barnes initially announced the movie entitled Power to the People was in the making two months ago. The New Edition Story star Keith Powers will take on the lead role as Newton, while actors Wood Harris and Hill Harper would also have roles in the film. Dr. Dre has also signed on to do the score.

If this Beyoncé news seems a little left-field, keep in mind, a few years back, Barnes fabricated a story about dating Rihanna — to which she clapped back debunking the claim. So maybe take it with a grain of salt.
Or maybe it could be true. We'll just have to wait and see.
Beyoncé's team has not released a comment.
