When Hiatus Kaiyote shared their excellent second LP Choose Your Weapon this spring, the world was put back on notice as to just how lush and surprising their sound can be. One of the early standouts on the album was “Fingerprints,” a slow and easy-drifting number that only ever built in speed and intensity as it went by. On an album loaded with prog-n-B maximalism, “Fingerprints” was a reprieve–a moment to pause and reflect as lead vocalist Nai Palm wafted by on the breeze.

Not so on Mr. Mo Records’ new flip of the track, which pushes Hiatus Kaiyote’s most delicate keyboard fills into full-on club territory. It’s chopped in an inventive and dynamic way, making it pretty damn difficult for even the truest of HK purists to remain immune to its pull. It’s also the first remix in a new monthly series of remixes from the label, leading up to an early 2016 compilation.

This comes highly recommended. Listen to the “Fingerprints” flip below, pick up Choose Your Weapon on iTunes, and check out HK’s European tour itinerary after the jump.
