After dropping King’s Disease last year, Nas returns with a new album announcement. The new release is entitled King’s Disease II and it’s arriving pretty soon.
A few months back in March, Nas went home with his first-ever Best Rap Album award at the Grammy’s for King’s Disease. Hit-Boy was the exec producer on the album and Gabriel “G Code” was co-executive producer. Guests on the album included Anderson .Paak, Big Sean, Don Toliver and Charlie Wilson.
In case you’re keeping tabs, King’s Disease earned Nas his 14th Grammy nomination, it’s still something that this was his first win. He beat out fellow nominees D Smoke, Jay Electronica, Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist, Jay Electronica and Royce 5’9”. When the album dropped it climbed the ranks of Billboard’s Hot 200 chart and landed the No. 5 spot earning Nas his 14th Top 10 album.
Also, unsurprisingly Nas was present for the official opening of the Universal Hip Hop Museum (UHHM), per Rolling Stone. The museum is slated to open in 2023 in the South Bronx. In 2019 it was announced that $3.7 million had been allocated from New York to bring the museum to life. Chuck D is heading the celebrity board of the museum as chairman. Additional chairman Kurtis Blow is joined by the following cultural ambassadors: Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, LL Cool J, Grandmaster Flash and Fab Five Freddy.
At the beginning of July, Nas rolled out a 25th-anniversary edition of It Was Written his sophomore album.
King’s Disease II will arrive on Friday, August 6. Take a look at the album cover art below.
