Could a Nas and Hit-Boy Joint Album Be On the Way?

Nas posted a montage of in-studio footage on Instagram Monday.

Fans of Nas and Hit-Boy should mark their calendars for August 21. On Monday, the Queens MC posted a short video of the two in the studio working on new music.

"8.21," Nas captioned the post, adding "#HitBoyOnTheBeats."

The project would be Nas' first release since last summer's The Lost Tapes 2. The project came 17 years after the first edition of the series. The year before, he released Nasir, the seven-track collaboration with Kanye West. The album was the fourth in Kanye's "Wyoming Sessions," after Pusha T's Daytona, Kanye's Ye, and Kid Cudi's Kids See Ghosts.

Nas first mentioned the project back in late April in an interview with DJ Ralph McDaniels for an online benefit called Hip-Hop Loves NY.

"There's some projects going on," he revealed. "One of them is, I was working with Hit-Boy, and I still am. And then there's another one I'm working on that I don't wanna disclose. But Hit-Boy, that's been fun working with him...we've got some things."

Hit-Boy has seven Grammy nominations to his name, taking home two trophies in 2012 and 2019 for "Niggas in Paris" and "Racks in the Middle," respectively. Hit-Boy also earned Best Rap Song Grammy nominations for Travis Scott's "Sicko Mode" and Album of the Year nominations for Beyonce's self-titled album and also Lemonade.

More recently, Hit-Boy and Dom Kennedy (collectively known as Half-A-Mil) dropped their latest joint album, Also Known As Courtesy of Half-A-Mil. Nas appeared on the project's first single, "City on Lock."
