Pras to Sue 50 Cent & Kyrie Irving for "FBI Informant" Claims

Pras of hip-hop trio The Fugees is reportedly planning to sue 50 Cent, Kyrie Irving and Rolling Stone for allegations of him being an FBI informant.

Pras Michel of The Fugees plans to get the last word. One month after being convicted of charges of conspiracy, foreign influencing scheming and more, the 50-year-old reportedly sent a notification to representatives of 50 Cent, Kyrie Irving and Rolling Stone with plans to sue. The Haitian-American rapper says that Cent, Irving and a Rolling Stone report have accused him of being an FBI informant.

In a since-deleted Instagram post from April 24, 50 Cent shared a screenshot of a headline announcing Michel’s conviction, also calling him an informant. “I knew this fool was a Rat! I’m glad I never fvck with this guy,” the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ rapper wrote.

The following day, Irving alluded to Michel in a tweet that read, “A whole FBI informant was in the Fugees for that long??”

In the original Rolling Stone feature, Michel was referred to as “an informal FBI informant” with the sentence later revised to “voluntarily met with FBI agents.”

Michel’s representative, Jonathan Noah Schwartz, claimed that statements made by 50, Irving and Rolling Stone were costly to Michel, causing him to lose business deals and impacting his music revenue.

“It is and was absolutely and demonstrably false for You to publish that Michel was a ‘government informant,’” Schwartz wrote to Rolling Stone. “Labeling a Hip Hop artist such as Michel, the reputation of whom is dependent upon ‘street credibility’ and not being a ‘snitch,’ a ‘government informant’ most certainly tends to subject said Hip Hop artist to hatred, distrust, ridicule, contempt and/or disgrace, along with injury in their trade or profession.”

Also planning to sue on is attorney David Kenner, who previously represented Michel in his trial.

“The ‘Rolling Stone’ article resulted in the false and defamatory label being made in hundreds of viral local, national, and international media news stories and blog posts that have harmed the business interests, reputations … of Pras and attorney Kenner,” Pras’ spokesperson, Erica Dumas, told the Los Angeles Times.

“It is unacceptable for any media outlet to publish unfounded and false allegations that can damage the businesses and reputations of individuals and put them at risk.”
