In response to President Barack Obama's comment on her (apparent) Romney endorsement, Nicki Minajresponded via twitter yesterday to confirm his lyrical analysis of her bars on "Mercy" and pledge her support for the first black president in U.S. history. When confronted with Minaj's couplet: "I'm a republican, votin' for Mitt Romney / You lazy b**ches is f**kin up the econ'my..." POTUS astuteley pointed out that "I don't think that's actually what happened. I think she had...a little rap that said that [but] she likes to play different characters." Shoring up the Commander-in-Chief's reputation as a rap genius, Minaj responded:

"Ha! Thank you for understanding my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the smart ones always do...," pointedly adding the starred phrase "pledges love & support."

In a somewhat self-congratulatory follow-up Minaj added:

"Awesome! Now I can tell my grandchildren that the 1st black President of the United States took the time to address a Nicki Minaj question."

All of which seems to confirm that Obama's overall analysis of Minaj's character--"So, I don't know what's going on there"--is also correct.
