When Miss E. Badu vouches, we take heed. Sometimes that means we're getting acquainted with the seemingly-endless talents of her children, other times we're just picking up new holistic treatments from the analog girl. Either way, Badu is equal parts mystic and pragmatist, and we already know we can trust her ear. Last week, the Soulquarian singer posted a new track from Dallas-based musician, Frank Moka, declaring that "he's next." The infectious new cut, "NATION TIME," blends political savvy with four-to-floor pop a la MJ, building a suite that's equal parts dance floor fodder and sharp political statement, seeped in a bubbly piano groove and Moka's smooth vocals. It's a good, soulful introduction, no doubt. But I'll wait until there's a little more to go by before joining in Badu's sentiments.
