The altercation never took place.

In a report from BuzzFeed, Joshua Witt had taken to Facebook to post photos from an alleged altercation in the parking lot of a Steak and Shake in Sheridan, Colorado. Witt had accused a random black man of stabbing him after the latter had asked the former if he was a neo-Nazi (Witt has the "high and tight" or Fashy haircut associated with white nationalists). However, after video footage from the parking lot was reviewed by police officers, it turns out Witt was never attacked by some random black man but had actually stabbed himself with a knife, admitting that he lied after having a second interview with police.

As BuzzFeed reports:

Sheridan police, in a statement to BuzzFeed, said: '[When] he was confronted with [...] all the information listed above[,] Mr. Witt subsequently admitted to accidentally cutting himself with the knife while parked in his car in front of the sporting goods store and admitted making up the story about being attacked.'

Police charged Witt with "falsely reporting to authorities" and released him. Witt did not reveal his motivation for fabricating the altercation but the story, which first appeared a couple of weeks ago, circulated across news television programs such as Fox News and Inside Edition.
