Protoje + Chronixx - "Who Knows" Video

Protoje has pioneered the revival of the roots sound by keeping the foundations of reggae close to his heart but also keeping an open mind about where reggae has been and where it can go. With the support of his band InDiggNation, the team has been able to create the fusion of rock, reggae, dub and hip-hop production styles heard on 7 Year Itch and The 8 Year Affair. Not far behind is Chronixx, a young roots reggae artist who built a name for himself with energetic live performances and the Major Lazer-backed mixtapeStart A Fire, which showcased his conscious tunes. Together these roots revivalists are the premiere ambassadors of Jamaica’s current reggae renaissance which is making waves worldwide. A couple months ago they released their collaboration on the track "Who Knows" over Winta James' (who has produced tracks for reggae greats like Anthony B, The Mighty Diamond and Damian Marley) "Militancy" riddim available digitally and on vinyl in classic dub style.

"Who Knows" is the first single off of Protoje's upcoming album due out the year. The single - which is about endless gratitude, has a feel-good summer vibe and director Storm Saulter has elevated the track with some scenic visuals. The video displays Jamaica's beautiful landscape as the reggae renaissance men find interesting ways to get to their final destination - a festive beach party - after their car breaks down. You can't help but admire both the musicians cool vibes and notice how they express themselves through personal style. The beautiful scenery coupled with Chronixx's killer hook and Protoje's positive verses has us anticipating the artists third album. You won't have to go to Jamaican to experience these jams in the summer heat; thanks to LargeUp and Okayplayer you can see Chronixx live for free in Central Park !
