Mankind Pay Homage To Iconic Black Women In 'Chocolate Eclair' VideoHarlem rap duo Mankind

With Mankind's new video for "Chocolate Eclair," viewers get two for the price of one: dope music, and images of iconic black women.

The Harlem rap duo of pays homage to Josephine Baker, Nina Simone, Cicely Tyson, Dorothy Dandridge, and Ruby Dee in the video. "Chocolate Eclair" appears on Mankind's album Black History [1920-1970], one of a trilogy of records created to cover the history, present, and future of black people. The duo is using the GIF-based video generator MVGEN to create each music video for the trilogy. The song isn't bad, either: over a laid back jazz loop, !LLumiN@TE and SciryL trade rhymes of admiration for the fairer sex.

“["Chocolate Eclair"] is a way for us to acknowledge and honor Black women, who have historically nurtured and uplifted Black men. We really wanted to capture the excitement of young love destined to pass the test of time," said ManKind member !LLumiN@TE. "Black women are paramount to the Black History trilogy, and ‘Chocolate Eclair’ is the first and most explicit dedication to their contributions. MVGEN perfectly captures the tone and sentiment of the track by displaying the timeless beauty of acclaimed Black women from the first half of the 20th century, which coincides with the time period of the past disc.”
