Drake has unveiled the official video for “Toosie Slide,” his newest single. The track was previously rolled out on TikTok by viral artist Toosie who shared a first look at the official footwork for the catchy song on Sunday, March 29. In Drake’s visual, he shows fans the choreography for the dance.

On the track Drake raps, “It go right foot up, left foot, slide/Left foot up, right foot, slide.” He also adds, “Basically, I’m saying, either way, we ’bout to slide/Can’t let this one slide.”

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Toosie shared that Drake initially reached out to him to collaborate on the track. “Drake hit me up and was like, ‘Yo, I need your help.” He also said, “So he sends the record. It was just an idea at the time. It was just the hook and a verse. I came up with this dance. [Drake said,] ‘What you think? You think you can come up with a dance for this song that I made?’ So I sit down, listen to it. Luckily, I’m at Ayo and Teo’s house with Hii Key and all of us. We all chilling. We came up with it pretty fast. We just all pieced it together. We all contributed.”

Teo expressed that the coronavirus pandemic affected the drop of the song. “He was gon’ have us in the music video and junk, but the coronavirus messed it up. So it took us two extra weeks to drop the video we made for it.”

“Toosie Slide” is the rapper’s first solo single of 2020. In the visual directed by Theo Skudra, Drake walks and dances through his Toronto mansion. Complex reports the rapper is currently working on his next album. Back in February, he shared that his latest project would be shorter than Scorpion (2018).

On the forthcoming album, he shared:

“This album, I’ll probably make it a more realistic offering, something more concise. Anywhere, whatever you want, it can be 10, 11, 16… I also do a lot of different types of music so it’s tough to make it like a seven-song album or something like that.”
