UPDATE: Minnesota Timberwolves Officially Unveil 'Purple Rain'-Style Jersey Honoring Prince

Update: The Minnesota Timberwolves have officially announcedtheirCity Edition Jersey, which will honor Prince and his classic album Purple Rain.

Prince was a huge basketball fan.

Last year, Nike kicked off their eight-year apparel deal with the NBA. (Essentially, all NBA jerseysare Nike jersey.) One of the cool things about this, is that every year Nike will have special "City Edition" uniforms that will honor something specific about the team's city.

We just got a sneak peek at what one NBA team will do. On Monday, October 22nd, a Wolves fan page tweeted out an unauthorized sneak peak of theMinnesota Timberwolves City Edition Jersey. The jerseys will be paying homage to Minneapolis legend and diehard basketball fan Prince.

The Timberwolves jersey is usually blue and green. This one is black and purple and uses a font similar to the font Prince used on his magnum opus Purple Rain.
