You’ll be able to read Prince’s life story later this year
A month before he died, Prince signed a book deal. That book, which will be a memoir, will now be released later in the year.
This news was confirmed by Prince’s publishing agent, ICM Partners’ Esther Newberg. In a podcast conversation with Variety, Newberg said that Prince worked with author Dan Piepenbring on the memoir. The legendary artist delivered about 50 handwritten pages to Piepenbring.
Newberg said she was able to strike a deal by bringing three editors to Prince’s Paisley Park compound in Minneapolis.
Speaking on the process, Newberg said:
It’s never been done before…Editors don’t like to be in the same room making their pitches to the same potential clients. We had to do it because I knew he would not want to meet individually with editors.
Newberg also said that there is a chance that there would be “reproductions of Prince’s longhand pages” in the memoir.
