Master P Responds to Backlash Over Slavery Comments: "I love my people"
The No Limit founder previously said that Black people can’t keep “going back to” slavery while advocating for strong business practices.

Master P is responding to online criticism over recent comments he made about Black people, wealth and slavery. An interview with Forbes circulated across social media, in which Master P talked about business while arguing that Black Americans should not keep “going back to” and “harping on” slavery. His criticism drew a strong reaction online and now the No Limit Records founder is addressing the backlash.
“I can’t change the past, but I could change the future,” Master P said in the original interview with Forbes. “They still going back to, ‘Oh man, slavery, they did us this’. And I’m like, ‘You still harping on that, man?’ I never harped on that because I can’t change the past, but I can change the future.”
P appeared in a new video, stating directly that he never sought to downplay the history of slavery in America and its impact on Black people.
"For the ones in the back that can't hear," he says in a response video. "Stop making them false narratives. I love my people." He went on to say that he’s focusing on the future.
"That's what I mean about we can't change the past, but we can change the future by bridging the wealth gap," he continued. "That's what Master P said, you can't twist the truth."
P argued in the original interview that integrity and having strong business practices can open doors, and it’s a point that he reiterated after the criticism he faced online.
"You got to have integrity, do good business…and doors will open," he wrote on Instagram.
