Ava DuVernay's critically-acclaimed Netflix limited series When They See Usdid not receive any acknowledgment from the Golden Globes. The Golden Globe Awards released its 2020 nominees, with films like Joker earning its major awards. However, When They See Us was snubbed from the nominations list.

As Varietynoted, the Netflix series received 16 Emmy nominations (the most for any Netflix show) and ended up taking two awards from the awards ceremony — one for casting directors Aisha Coley, Billy Hopkins, and Ashley Ingram; and another for lead actor Jharrel Jerome, who portrayed Korey Wise (one of the men wrongly accused).

A number of people have since reacted to When They See Us getting snubbed.

"For WHEN THEY SEE US, I wanted Nipsey's voice to blanket the end credits and close the five-hour film," she previously tweeted. "His estate gave me approval during a very hard time for them, with no monetary gain, just two weeks after his passing. A massive gift. Forever grateful."
