Golden Globes 2020: 'Joker' is Nominated for Best Picture & Best Actor

The Golden Globe nominations were announced. Netflix's Marriage Story and The Irishman were the big winners.

Awards season is here.

The Golden Globe nominations were announced on Monday (December 9th). The big winner of the morning was Netflix: three Netflix-financed movies turned memes, Marriage Story, The Irishman, and Dolemite Is My Name, receiving the most nominations. Marriage Story was nominated for six awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor, and Actress for a Drama; while the Robert De Niro, Al Pacino-led The Irishman got five nominations; Dolemite Is My Name, Eddie Murphey's first R-rated movie in 20 years, received two nominations, including Best Picture Best for a Musical or Comedy and Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy.

Todd Phillips' Joker, one of the most successful movies of the year, was a big winner. The controversial movie received four nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor for a Drama. Other interesting notes include Cynthia Erivo receiving a Best Actress nomination for her role as Harriet Tubman in Harriet; Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood receiving four nominations; Jennifer Lopez getting a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Hustlers; and Beyoncé getting a Best Original Song nomination for her Lion Kingsong "Spirit."
