On Wednesday, Biden referred to Trump as the first "racist" president of the United States.

Joe Biden referred to Donald Trump as the "first" racist president during a town hall event on Wednesday.

During the event, which was organized by the Service Employees International Union, Biden spoke on Trump often referring to COVID-19 as the "China virus" or "Wuhan virus."

"What President Trump has done in his spreading of racism...the way he deals with people based on the color of their skin, their national origin, where they’re from, is absolutely sickening," Biden said.

"No sitting president has ever done this," Biden added. "Never, never, never. No Republican president has done this. No Democratic president. We've had racists, and they’ve existed. They’ve tried to get elected president. He’s the first one that has."

Since then, Trump has addressed Biden's comment. During a press briefing, he was asked about the former vice president calling him the first racist president. He disputed the remark and pointed to criminal justice reform and low Black unemployment rates (something he has wrongly taken credit for many times), saying:

You look at employment, you look at opportunity zones, and maybe, most importantly, you look at criminal justice reform, you look at prison reform...I've done more for black Americans than anybody with the possible exception of Abraham Lincoln."

Trump had previously trolled Biden with a video on his official Snapchat account. The since-deleted video, which used audio from T.I.'s 2008 hit "Whatever You Like," slightly altered the Atlanta rapper's hook, saying "don’t want Joe Biden, need Joe Biden…long as you got me, you won’t need Joe Biden."
