Fox Anchor Calls Texas Teen ‘Obnoxious’ For Getting Accepted To 20 Colleges

Michael Brown, a high school senior from Houston, Texas, became a viral sensation after news spread of the student being accepted to 20 of the nation’s most competitive colleges, with full financial aid for each one. However, not everyone was pleased with Brown’s accomplishment, most notably co-anchor Holly Morris and contributor Sarah Fraser.

During a news segment that aired April 3 on Fox 5 in Washington, D.C., the two women criticized Brown, saying that it was “obnoxious” that the teen was “taking a spot from someone else who worked really hard.”

Now, Brown wants an apology from Morris and Fraser.

Two days after the interview aired, Brown had a follow-up interview with Morris but said that she failed to apologize to him during the conversation.

“This morning, I had a respectful Skype interview with @HollyLiveFox5DC, though I did not get an apology during the interview. I won’t allow the interview to air until @fox5dc provides me with a public apology. Where’s the #humandecency?” Brown tweeted.

In a report with USA Today, Berthinia Rutledge-Brown, Brown’s mother, backed up her son’s statement, saying Morris never apologized and only said she “didn’t mean to offend” him. However, Fraser has apologized for her remarks.

“I have apologized to Micheal and he accepted my apology,” Fraser said on Twitter. “Micheal’s accomplishments aren’t up for debate. I have learned a valuable lesson.”

Brown still has to decide which school he will end up going to. He got into his dream school, Stanford University, but is also seriously considering Georgetown, Harvard and Yale. He says he will announce his decision on April 30.
