Styles P is stepping in to protect Black women. On Tuesday (June 13) afternoon, The Lox member was in his hometown of Yonkers, New York when a woman was being forcibly detained by Yonkers Police officers. In a now-viral video, the woman is seen being tackled to the ground while her moped was lying next to her.
As she’s being handcuffed, another woman filming the altercation shouted at the officers, repeatedly telling them that the woman was not resisting arrest. Although it has been unconfirmed, XXL speculates that the woman was an Uber delivery driver.
Styles P appears in the video, saying “Yo! He’s a bitch,” to one of the officers before telling the woman to keep filming.
“Yo, sista, loosen up,” he told the woman being detained. An officer stands up to approach the rapper, who raises his hands and says, “I’mma back up. Don’t touch me.”
“Keep recording me,” Styles said to the woman recording, before returning his attention to the officer and saying, “You slammed a girl! For no reason!”
Towards the end of the video, Styles continues standing his ground against the officer, before moving to the other side of the woman being arrested.
Since the video has been posted on social media, Styles has been on a peaceful streak, reminding followers to “self center” and quote-retweeting a list of natural ingredients for wellness.
