Nipsey Hussle Wins First Grammy for “Racks In The Middle” ft. Roddy Rich & Hit-Boy

Hussle’s longtime girlfriend Lauren London shared a few words on the late rapper during the acceptance speech for the award.

The 2020 Grammy for Best Rap Performance was recently awarded to Nipsey Hussle, Roddy Rich and Hit-Boy for the song “Racks In The Middle.”

Additional nominations in the category include “Drip Too Hard” by Lil Baby and Gunna, “Panini” by Lil Nas X and also “Ballin” by Mustard featuring Roddy Rich. Hussle was also nominated last year for Best Rap Album for Victory Lap his debut studio album. 

During the acceptance speech, Lauren London, longtime girlfriend of Hussle shared:

“I speak on behalf of the family in honor of Nip who was a phenomenal vessel. Nip did it not just for the awards but for the people and God allowed him to use this music to speak his truth, give his wisdom and [that’s] something we will always be able to live with.”

His grandmother was also given a moment to speak on his award, she said, “I wanted to thank all of you for showing all the love that I have felt for him all of his life and will always live in my heart, so: thank you.”

This is Hussle’s first Grammy Award. He was nominated last year for Best Rap Album for Victory Lap his debut studio album. This year he was also nominated in the Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Performance categories for “Racks In The Middle” and “Higher” by DJ Khaled, Hussle and John Legend respectively.
