KOOL A.D. is back with some audiovisual bliss for your brains in the stirringly psychedelic video treatment for his latest single “Hickory” featuring Talib Kweli & The Coup’s Boots Riley. The track, featured on his WORD OK LP, is a slice of chopped and slurred Motown-era soul with a bit of a boom-bap update, A.D. & Co. keeping things light and even a bit romantic with the wordplay. The visual — animated by Muriel Holguín & directed by Peruvian arts collective Youth Experimental Studio — creates a beautifully vibrant, watercolored world in which haze is plentiful and encouraged.
