With the posthumous release of The Diary, we learned that the late J Dilla was just as capable rocking over OPB (other people's beats) as he was on his own. The understanding has only grown in strength with testimonials from friends and collaborators like Karriem Riggins and Hi-Tek, not to mention the lead-off singles, "The Introduction," "Gangsta Boogie" and most recently, "The Sickness," which hosts a verse from Nas, as well as production from creative kin, Madlib.
Today, the latter is boldly visualized with a kaleidoscopic clip, that brings the potency of the track to the forefront in a vivid melee of colorful swirls and contortions. If you haven't caught wind of this posthumous release, we implore you to jump back and get properly acquainted. Or you can get the fire started with this vibrant visual for "The Sickness" down below. J Dilla's once-lost vocal album The Diary is available today via iTunes and vinyl LP; each making a formidable addition to any burgeoning Jay Dee collection, digital or analogue.
