Netflix’s ‘A Different World’ Brings Back O.G. Stars for Sequel Series

Kadeem Hardison, Jasmine Guy and more will once again be joining the Hillman College family in new show.

Netflix’s A Different World reboot series is bringing back some original cast members to join the new schoolers set to take the campus at the fabled Hillman College. According to Deadline, O.G. castmates Kadeem Hardison, Jasmine Guy, Darryl M. Bell and Cree Summer will be joining the sequel series, which is being helmed by executive producer Felicia Pride. 

The reboot show is a single-camera comedy and it will have 10 half-hour episodes. Debbie Allen, who produced, directed, and acted in the original series, will executive produce and direct three episodes of the sequel show.

A Different World is back!!! YAY!! We are over the moon to bring this much-anticipated sequel with our returning legacy stars Kadeem Hardison, Jasmine Guy, Cree Summer and Darryl M. Bell! These beloved characters are returning in a major way that respects their history while engaging exciting storylines that are relevant to issues of today,” they shared in a joint statement. “Throughout the season, fans will have a chance to reunite with these OG characters and see how their lives have evolved into A Different World. And as the story unfolds, there will be more cast surprises in store for longtime fans. We can’t wait for lovers of the show to experience this new chapter as a real continuation of the legacy show, and we’re excited to welcome new audiences to Hillman.”

The show stars Maleah Joi Moon Deborah Wayne, the youngest daughter of Dwayne Wayne (Hardison) and Whitley Gilbert-Wayne (Guy) as she begins her freshman year at her parents' alma mater. Also among the cast are Alijah Kai, Chibuikem Uche, Cornell Young IV, Jordan Aaron Hall, and newcomer Kennedi Reece.
