The name Hunter S. Thompson has no doubt come across your path in some form or fashion during your earthly years. But whether you’re a fan of the man’s writing or not, you likely know the reputation that proceeds him: that of the most functionally drug-addled human to have ever walked the planet. Now the iconic writer’s widow, Anita Thompson, is getting ready to preserve that legacy by reanimating some of his personal weeds strains.
According to The Aspen Times, Thompson’s widow bought his infamous Owl Ranch in Colorado (one of the first states to fully-legalize weed for recreational purposes) with sights set on transforming the 42-acre estate into a retreat for journalists and creatives. And she plans to finance it with something even greener than bills. Thompson has authorized the cloning of six strains of weed that were grown and smoked by the late writer for “those who would like to enjoy the authentic Gonzo strains in legal states.”
No arguments here. A chunk of the profits from the sale of these strains will go back to the Ranch to create the haven she has envisioned, keeping the legacy (and kush-kissed glow) of Hunter S. Thompson in tact for generations to come.
