9th Wonder‘s a man who needs no introduction when it comes to beat construction. Dude’s a damn legend, no matter how you stack it. But few outside of the Jamla Army and hip hop’s most elite emcees have ever had the honor of seeing the soul-chopping chef at work in the kitchen. Lucky for you, me and the beat-loving world, the North Carolinian frequency freaker has stepped into the lab with Mass Appeal’s always dope Rhythm Roulette series to give the world a rare glimpse into the alchemy that goes into his craft.
9th, like all of Rhythm Roulette’s subjects, first went blindly into the haven that is Raleigh’s The Record Krate and stepped out with three randomly-chosen selections, each bearing flips galore to be explored by the masterful producer, even finding a few where he’d least expect. The result, of course, is a grip of expertly-crafted joints, one of which even gets treated by femme fatale emcee, Rapsody. Watch as 9th Wonder goes ham on the latest installment Rhythm Roulette below for a keen eye into the processes of one of the game’s GOATs, hands down.
