Young Greatness was in the parking lot of Waffle House when two people came behind him and shot him. The two people then proceeded to take his car.

Young Greatness was born in New Orleans but moved to Houston after Hurricane Katrina. The rapper would go on to be associated with crews like Quality Control Records, which released “Moolah,” and Cash Money.

Jeanine Rose, the mother of Young Greatness, talked to WDSU about the killing. She said Young Greatness was in New Orleans for a funeral. She also said at the time of the shooting he was face timing with his manager.

Young Greatness released “Moolah,” which was produced by Jazzy Pha, in early 2015. But the melodic trap anthem didn’t start to pick up steam until the top of 2016.  The song would eventually hit the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at 85.
