On February 23, 1999 The Roots dropped a classic

Nineteen years ago today, The Roots released Things Fall Apart, the band’s fourth studio album — and easily their most popular.

The album was lead by the band’s first real big hit, the Grammy award-winning single “You Got Me,” which featured Erykah Badu and Eve. (And a killer video.) Things Fall Apart would eventually go on to be certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

On Friday morning Questlove went to Instagram to honor the masterpiece. In his post, Questlove revealed some really cool behind the scenes details about the album. This includes the first and last song made; the songs that Black Thought didn’t like at first; the song Mos Def snuck Talib Kweli on; and more.

Also, Questlove revealed that the song playing on this old Youtube video, the “yo, Pinfinite….(remiiiiiiiiiiiix)” clip, featured a J Dilla beat that didn’t make the album.
