With the 50 birthday wishes pouring in, Q-Tip delivered an infrequent transmission last night.
In a clip posted to Instagram, the A Tribe Called Quest frontman thanked fans for the well-wishing and announced three new albums, sparing details or any release dates. He did, however, share the titles, AlGoRhythms, Riotdiaries, and the long-teased, The Last Zulu. The latter title has been floating as a solo release from the producer since signing to G.O.O.D. Music in 2010.
It’s a welcomed return from the hip-hop legend, but he hasn’t been gone very long at all. Last year, the producer shaped Danny Brown’s stellar comeback album, uknowhatimsayin¿. In 2018, he appeared on Anderson .Paak’s Oxnard, co-producing the track “Cheers” with Dr. Dre. But if 2020 plays out with three new projects from The Abstract, it could be his grandest showing to date.
Watch Q-Tip tease new music and announce his albums in the clip below. Hold tight for updates in the weeks and months ahead.
