Viral Rapper Faces Backlash From Lil Uzi Vert and Others for Cooperating With Police As A Child

Philadelphia MC Popp Hunna is reportedly considering retirement.

In the past month, Philadelphia rapper Popp Hunna has achieved viral fame for his single “Adderall (Corvette Corvette).” The track has been used in hundreds of TikTok videos, and the remix with Lil Uzi Vert has racked up over 7 million views on YouTube. Unfortunately for Popp, the newfound fame has come with controversy.

On Sunday, multiple outlets reported that Popp was considering retirement after records surfaced that he cooperated with police at the age of 14. His cooperation is reportedly connected to Popp and his mother witnessing the shooting death of a friend.

“I’m about to just quit rapping,” he allegedly wrote in an Instagram story, “all that paper work just f-cked my whole reputation up.”

The caption was written over a screenshot of a direct message conversation with Uzi. “Lil bro you got to take me off ya EP,” Uzi allegedly wrote, “I can’t accept what you did.”

“Everybody starting to hate me because I was being loyal,” Popp replied. “I did what I had to do…I can’t even get features from no more other artist[s] because of this.”

Uzi and Popp collaborated on two tracks in the past month, the remix to “Adderall” and also the remix to “Take Off.” Both tracks appear on the burgeoning artist’s debut EP Mud Baby. Uzi allegedly wants his verses to be removed from both tracks given the circumstances.

Earlier this month, Popp Hunna scored his first week at number one atop the Top Triller U.S. and Global Billboard charts. The charts use a formula blending the number of views on videos containing the songs, the level of engagement with the videos, and the raw total of videos uploaded with the songs.

Popp Hunna’s Mud Baby EP is available on all major digital streaming platforms.
