The 16-track “Juneteenth 2022: Freedom Songs” comes just a week before the federal holiday known also known as Emancipation Day and Freedom Day, which marks the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans, first celebrated in Texas on June 19th, 1865.

“Music is the tie that binds our Black experience in the U.S. and the world,” said Ebro Darden, global head of hip-hop and R&B at Apple Music. “Being able to create covers and original music with artists from all genres of music is the perfect way to continue to celebrate the Black experience and continue our collective work for true freedom.”

The playlist also features Lupe Fiasco, Bun B, Denzel Curry, Brittney Spencer and others.

In 2018, 6LACK last released his sophomore album East Atlanta Lover Letter , which featured Offset, Future, J. Cole and Khalid.
