The notoriously private rapper is now a proud father.

Congratulations are due to Kendrick Lamar and his fiancée, Whitney Alford.

According to Us Weekly, the high school sweethearts have welcomed their first child to the world. The baby girl was born on Friday, July 26th, without any heads up from Lamar or his team. Their daughter's name has yet to be revealed.

Though it may come as a surprise to fans, a quiet year from the Compton rapper makes a bit more sense now. Though he was featured on Beyoncé's The Lion King soundtrack. Prior to that, Lamar hadn't released new music since a loose appearance on the Creed II soundtrack, alongside Mike Will and Pharrell. His 2017 studio album, DAMN., remains on the Billboard 200 albums chart, sitting at No. 72. And with a new baby girl to look after, it may be a while until we get a follow-up.

Either way, Lamar and Alford (who met while attending Centennial High in Compton) probably have more pressing items to worry about (like baby-proofing their home.)
