From Ari Lennox to Morris Day & The Time, Here Are the Best Soul Train 2022 Performances

Muni Long, Chanté Moore, Xscape, Morris Day and The Time and more gave show-stopping performances at the 2022 Soul Train Awards.

Black music scored big at the 2022 Soul Train Awards this month. Pre-taped at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas earlier this month before airing on BET on Saturday (November 26), the awards ceremony was hosted by actor and comedian Deon Cole. Acts honored during the show were Xscape with the Lady of Soul Award and Morris Day & the Time with the Legend Award.

The Atlanta-bred Xscape performed a powerhouse medley of their throwback hits “Just Kickin’ It,” “My Little Secret,” “Who Can I Run To?,” ”Tonight” and “Understanding.”

Before the quartet took the stage, Jermaine Dupri – who signed the group to his label So So Def Recordings in the early ’90s – recounted first meeting the group at a birthday party.

“It blew me away when they sang ‘Happy Birthday,’” he said. “I said, I’m going to sign you … but I had no record label.”

Before being honored with the Legend Award, Morris Day & the Time delivered their ’80s hits including “Cool,” “777,” “Jungle Love” and “The Bird.”

Also taking the stage were Ari Lennox with age/sex/location single “Waste My Time” and Muni Long with a dramatic rendition of “Hrs & Hrs” and “Plot Twist.”

Bel-Air star and vocalist Coco Jones graced the Soul Train Awards with “ICU” from her new EP What I Didn’t Tell You.

R&B veteran Chanté Moore stunned with a medley of “Love’s Taken Over,” “It’s Alright,” and “Chanté’s Got a Man”

While recorded previously, UK trio FLO gave a glowing performance of their single “Cardboard Box.”

Also showing off their R&B chops throughout the night were SiR, Tank, J Valentine and Q.
