Two years down the line, Frank Ocean‘s blond(e)d is still firmly planted on the charts.
A recent scan of the Billboard 200 has few surprises. Paul McCartney, Eminem, Drake, Travis Scott, Post Malone, and the late Mac Miller, occupy the top slots of the pops. But a short scroll down the line reveals Ocean’s 2016 opus (released just two days after his visual album, Endless) hasn’t budged much (currently sitting at #166,) though it is trending downwards.

blond(e)d went platinum over this past summer and set the tone for the fall and winter seasons following its August 2016 release, during which Ocean launched his Beats 1 radio show and continued to release new collaborations with Jay-Z, Tyler, The Creator, Travis Scott, and Jarami. Some of those tracks (“Lens,” “Chanel,” and “Biking,”) would see their live debuts on a short run of tour dates (with creative direction from Spike Jonez and a cameo from Brad Pitt) in summer 2017.

As for what’s next on Ocean’s docket, no one can be entirely sure. His Tumblr page is the only place you’ll see or hear an occasional transmission (like that loose and dreamy cover of Henry Mancini’s “Moon River” or a spare verse.)
