After quite a bit of teasing Busta Rhymes’ tenth studio album Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God has finally arrived.
The release serves as a follow-up to his 1998 album Extinction Level Event: The Final World Front. E.L.E. 2 was announced back in August by Chris Rock. 2012’s Year of the Dragon was the last album he dropped.
The album is equipped with a plethora of features from industry titans. Chris Rock, Rakim, Pete Rock, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Mariah Carey, Q-Tip, Rick Ross, M.O.P., Rapsody, Mary J. Blige all make appearances.
Previously released singles include Kendrick Lamar’s 2020 debut on “Look Over Your Shoulder” and “The Don And The Doss” with Vybz Kartel and J-Doe. The Anderson .Paak assisted track “YUUUU” also dropped recently offering a taste of the album. Beyond these collabs, Bell Biv DeVoe, Nikkie Grier and Louis Farrakhan also make guest appearances.
Busta Rhymes recently hoped to battle it out on Verzuz alongside T.I., but the Atlanta rapper politely declined. “To my brother that knows I love him. I’m begging you to step in the ring with me. I’m gonna bust yo ass,” Busta declared.
This was T.I.’s response which was shared widely online, “Busta’s one of the most phenomenal talents of our time, man.” He added, “I salute and respect Busta a whole lot. I just think the generational gap might be a little too much.” Rather than battling Busta in the season two debut of Verzuz, T.I. will face Jeezy who he also deeply respects.
