Okayplayer & SCENE Present ‘An Evening with Black Thought at the Okay Space

Black Thought will host a gallery-based discussion on the second day of the pop-up. The film screening will feature a panel and open bar.

Okayplayer and SCENE will be hosting a two-day pop-up event at the Okay Space in Brooklyn. On Tuesday, December 3, there will be a screening of Los Angeles-based photographer Rikki Wright’s short film Sisters. A panel discussion and open bar will allow attendees to connect and experience the space.

Then, on Wednesday December 4th, Black Thought will headline An Evening with Black Thought, the second day of events. The award-winning MC will host a gallery-based discussion on the media consumed by Black audiences.

SCENE describes itself as a “platform for visibility:”

We highlight the stories of creatives of color working behind the scenes in the music, art, fashion, and film industries, asking ‘When was the first time you felt SEEN in your industry?” followed, most importantly, by, “When was the first time you SAW yourself?” We showcase these industry leaders through multiple mediums; on a cutting-edge digital platform and through physical experiences of community connectivity. Images are created by all Black (and minority) teams to allow us to shape our own images. Supporters get the opportunity to not only read these stories but connect with each other at exclusive events and experiences that expand our community knowledge, interconnectedness, and cross-industry exposure.
