'The Defiant Ones' Director Allen Hughes to Tackle Massive Tupac Documentary Next

The ultimate Tupac documentary is in the works.

Director Allen Hughes will direct a five-part docuseries about the late, great Tupac Shakur.According to Deadline, Hughes, who last directed HBO's amazing The Defiant Ones docuseries, made a deal with the Shakur Estate that will allow him full access to all of Tupac's released and unreleased material.

This means Hughes will be able to get his hands on recordings, writings, poetry, and other documents.

This will be the first definitive project on Shakur that will have the full cooperation of the estate. In 2017, the Benny Boom-directed All Eyez on Me was released. Reportedly, Tupac's family was not pleased with the movie. In 2017,  it had been announced Oscar-winning director Steve McQueen was going to direct the documentary. That doesn't seem to be in the works anymore.

Funny enough, Hughes a part for Tupac in his classic debut Menace II Society. Hughes eventually kicked Tupac off the set because he was allegedly being disruptive.

This new Tupac project still does not have a title.
