Lil Nas X Gives God a Lapdance in 'Saturday Night Live' Cold Open

"People are afraid of me because I'm different, but really I'm just your typical gay black country sneaker entrepreneur."

After.a week of dominating headlines, Chris Redd brought Lil Nas X to Britney Spears' Talk Show in the cold open of a new Saturday Ngiht Live.

In last night's episode of the weekly sketch show, the "Old Town Road" singer was asked to address the public criticism of a new video for "Montero" (which featured the singer sliding down a pole to lapdance for Satan before killing him an taking his throne,) and the legal action taken by Nike to stop the sale of a limited edition Air Max 97 supposedly containing a drop of actual human blood (of which only 666 pairs were made, naturally.) Redd's Lil Nas X takes cues from the real one, shrugging off the performative outrage and when asked to offset the controversial act of twerking for Satan, agrees to also twerk for God (is is Easter, after all.) Redd goes on to remind the audience that the God and Satan he danced for are not the actual religious figures, just cartoonish representations of them. The following guests included Kate McKinnon as the booted-from-Space-Jam, Pepe LePew, and Pete Davidson as scandal-ridden Florida congressman, Matt Gaetz.

The cold open commenced Daniel Kaluuya's debut as host of Saturday Night Live. In his monologue, Kaluuya (donning an impossibly British track jacket x overcoat combo,) riffed on the differences between American and British racism, the size of his Ugandan family, and the technical difficulties he encountered while accepting a Golden Globe for his role in Judas and The Black Messiah.
