Noname, Black Thought, Questlove, Young Guru And More Sign Palestine Solidarity Letter

The Musicians For Palestine solidarity statement also includes signatures from Bun B, Digable Planets, Royce da 5’9″ and others.

Over 600 musicians have signed a letter vocalizing their solidarity with the people of Palestine as they continue to face institutionalized discrimination from Israel.

The Musicians For Palestine solidarity statement has been signed by Noname, Black Thought, Questlove, Young Guru, Run The Jewels, and hundreds of other artists. The statement, which was inspired by the cultural boycott of apartheid South Africa in the ’80s, was spearheaded by producer Nicolas Jaar and Iraqi-Canadian rapper Narcy.

“We are calling on our peers to publicly assert their solidarity with the Palestinian people. Complicity with Israeli war crimes is found in silence, and today silence is not an option,” a part of the statement reads.

“We call for you to join us with your name in refusing to perform at Israel’s complicit cultural institutions, and by standing firm in your support of the Palestinian people and their human right to sovereignty and freedom. We believe this is crucial to one day live in a world without segregation and apartheid,” the statement concludes. The letter in its entirety can be read here.

According to, Israel continues to “impose institutionalized discrimination against Palestinians living under its rule in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT),” with Israel not just displacing Palestinians in places like East Jerusalem, but also using excessive force during law enforcement activities. The conflict came to a head recently in the Gaza Strip, where the Israeli military bombed the area for 11 days. The bombings resulted in the deaths of 248 Palestinians, with more than 1,900 wounded.
