One of hip-hop’s most notorious hustlers is at it again. On Monday, Master P spoke with CNN to discuss his new line of food products–“Uncle P.” The line includes pancake mix, syrup, rice, beans, grits, and oatmeal. Master P intends to donate a portion of the profits towards assisting Black children and elderly people, as well as developing real estate in Black neighborhoods.
“When you look at Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben,” he said, “a lot of those products are mockeries of African-American people and couldn’t even feed our communities. With Uncle P, the more we make, the more we give. And the only way to give is by owning these products.”
It’s not his first foray into the food industry. Back in December, Master P launched a line of instant ramen noodles simply titled “Rap Noodles.” The brand is a part of the Rap Snacks line, of which he owns a partial stake in.
“If they made billions of dollars off Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben, imagine how much we’ll make to give back to our own community,” P continued. “It’ll be us helping us without having to wait for the government. We can actually change the world.”
P started the “Uncle P” line back in March. According to the CNN report, his brand is trying to keep up production demand from major retailers.
“It’s not just about having the Uncle P products,” he said. “But also having a good cause behind it. I’m happy that I can make a difference in my communities.”
