“These Stories Are True” – Louis C.K. Admits to Sexual Misconduct in Official Statement

“I have spent my long and lucky career talking and saying anything I want. I will now step back and take a long time to listen.”

Louis C.K. has issued a statement addressing yesterday’s publication of a New York Times report that collected the testimony of five women (one unnamed) and shed light on a disturbing history of sexual misconduct towards women in comedy.

He begins by admitting outright that “These stories are true,” explaining that during the period in which the abuses took place, he’d reconciled them with the understanding that he’d always asked first, he claims. He goes on to express his remorse and acknowledge that he’d been running from these events ever since, apologizing for the pain he’d caused the women as well as the embarrassment he’s  brought to his family, friends and longtime manager, Dave Becky.

Just hours after the NYT story went live, virtually every network and production company holding current or future projects from/by/with the comedian (HBO, Netflix, FX and The Orchard, distributor of his now-canceled film, I Love You, Daddy) have either ended their relationship on-spot or begun the process of doing so.
