Amazon’s ‘Invincible’ Renewed for Two More Seasons

The streamer’s adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s beloved comic is going to be sticking around.

Following a debut season that garnered rave reviews from critics and pedestrians alike, Amazon has announced Invincible will be back.

According to Collider, Amazon has ordered not one, but two, new seasons of the show. “Invincible is a crowning example of how a fresh and edgy approach to the superhero genre can resonate with audiences around the globe,” says Amazon Studios’ Co-Head of Televsion, Vernon Sanders, in a statement.

Based on Robert Kirkman’s cherished comic book series, Invincible centers on soon-to-be-superhero, Mark Norman, as the 17-year-old discovers and harnesses his powers. At first glance, Norman is a fairly run-of-the-mill teen who inherits the extraordinary abilities of his father, Omni-Man, AKA (arguably) the strongest superhero in existence. As the series unfolds, Norman attempts to balance his personal life with a newly-acquired role as state-sponsored vigilante, as well as the unsetlling origins of his father’s powers. The eight-episode introductory season features a star-studded cast of voice actors, including Steven Yeun, J.K Simmons, Mark Hamill, Mahershala Ali, Sandra Oh, and Seth Rogen.

“I’m extremely thankful to Amazon for the support and dedication they’ve put behind Invincible. The comic book is truly a love letter to a genre that Cory [Walker] and I grew up reading and loving, and it’s been a gratifying journey to watch our characters come to life again through the animated series,” said Kirkman in response to the announcement. “We’re beyond excited to continue this story for at least two more seasons,” Kirkman adds.

The season one finale of Invincible aired on Friday, April 30th. Revisit all eight episodes via Amazon Prime video today. Hold tight for updates on the upcoming seasons in the months ahead.
