Students at Long Island University will also create an album with 9th Wonder.

On Monday, Roc Nation and Long Island University announced hip-hop superproducer 9th Wonder will join the school's staff as a visiting professor. In August 2020, the two parties created the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports, and Entertainment. Starting in the Fall 2021 semester, 9th will teach students hip-hop history and create an album over the course of the term.

"Music changed my life and opened doors for me in ways that I never could have imagined, so it’s only right that we impart our knowledge to help the next generation of ambitious leaders," 9^th Wonder said in a statement. “I’m truly honored to teach at the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment and look forward to equipping these students with the tools to break barriers in their own lives and careers.”

Saxophonist Sam Newsome has already joined the Roc Nation School staff. The Berklee College of Music grad has worked with greats like Donald Byrd. Additionally, Newsome appeared on the soundtrack for the 1994 film The Inkwell. Newsome previously served as a professor in the Music department at LIU for 14 years.

"We're thrilled to welcome such an esteemed group of musicians to serve as lecturers at the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment,” Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez added. “Their collective wisdom and versatility will be essential to ensuring that the students receive a well-rounded education.”

25 percent of students at the Roc Nation School will receive Roc Nation Hope Scholarships, graduate debt-free, and receive individualized support and mentorship. The pool of scholars will be selected from a pool of "academically competitive, New York-based first-time freshmen with the highest need."
