50 Cent Is Producing An Investigative TV Series On Unsolved Murders Of Rappers

Hip Hop Homicides, an unscripted WEtv series produced by 50 Cent and Mona Scott-Young, will look into the untimely deaths of rappers.

50 Cent is becoming television’s new heavyweight. After building his Power universe (and other shows) over at Starz, Jackson has now teamed up with producer Mona Scott-Young for a hip-hop anthology series for WEtv called, Hip Hop Homicides.

An unscripted series that will explore the violent deaths of rappers including Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G., Hip Hop Homicides will be hosted by Van Lathan. Looking into unsolved murders that have impacted hip-hop, the show will attempt to uncover how these murders occurred.

According to Deadline, the 8-part series will air later this year on AMC Networks’ WEtv and adjoining streaming service ALLBLK. Jackson will co-produce Hip Hop Homicides through G-Unit Film & Television, while Scott-Young will co-produce via Monami Productions and Lionsgate Television.

“50 and I created this show in response to the disturbing number of murders in hip-hop. With this boots-on-the-ground investigative series, we will look to closely examine and explore leads surrounding these cases with the hope of finally providing loved ones with answers,” Scott-Young told Deadline.

“G-Unit Film and Television has thrived by telling real stories. As I continue to grow my current slate, premium non-scripted programming will be a major focus. Hip-hop loves things that are damaged. This series will shed light on the artists that didn’t make it through the struggle,” Jackson added.

Last month, it was announced that 50 is producing a Starz drama series about Snoop Dogg’s 1996 murder acquittal.
