Massive 'Truth to Power' Art Show, Panels, & Concerts in Philadelphia during DNC

The Democratic National Convention is just two days a way in our founding city of Philadelphia. And by our we mean both Okayplayer and 'Merica, duh. And with the DNC comes, well, A LOT, and where to even effing start on the state of affairs in this country. Racism, sexism and discrimination fueled by bigotry, police killing people of color on the regular, rigged economy, rigged elections fueled by corporate bribery, and plenty of FEAR, and that's just the surface of things.

So here's what we're going to do, Philly. Okayplayer has aligned with Rock The Vote's Truth To Power to engage our community how we like to: through art, music, informed and spirited discussion, and overall powerful messaging and introspection. Beginning Monday July 25th through Wednesday July 27th, Truth to Power will open its doors at 990 Spring Street featuring 9,000 square feet of over 200 works of art and 25 hours of discussions, activations and performances. This is our response to the Convention happening across the city and it's all FREE to attend.

Truth to Power is being described as a civil rights and social justice art show, a new iteration of the popular show Manifest Justice. This is a coming together moment in our history where activists, community leaders, celebrities, artists and public figures such as Rosario Dawson, Van Jones, Shepard Fairey, Dewey Saunders, Ben Jealous (NAACP), Hank Willis Thomas, Aloe Blacc, Rashad Robinson, Hill Harper, Susan Sarandon, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, dream hampton, Josh Fox (Gasland), Jose Antonio Vargas (Time Magazine), Cenk Uygur (The Young Turks), Kendrick Sampson and many others are coming together to voice their collective wokeness.
