New Podcast Will Breakdown the Making of The Notorious B.I.G.'s 'Life After Death'

A new podcast from Iconic Records will recap the final album by The Notorious B.I.G.

The Notorious B.I.G.’s1997 album Life After Death is coming to podcast form. To coincide with the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, Warner Music Group’s audio storytelling vertical WMX has announced the inaugural season of the visual podcast Iconic Records which will focus on Biggie’s second and final album, which was released sixteen days after his death.

The eight-episode debut season, which will feature guests Lil Cease, Fat Joe, Pusha T, Rick Ross, and Too $hort and other surprise guests, explores the cultural impact of Life After Death and Biggie’s legacy in hip-hop. Life After Death currently stands at 11-times platinum.

“Biggie was, and still is, one of the most important artists of our lifetime and Life After Death is a masterpiece!” Angie Martinez, the show's host, said in a statement. “To collaborate with WMX on this series has been an incredible experience. It’s especially meaningful as we also pay homage to 50 years of hip-hop and how it’s changed the course of history.”

Wayne Barrow, Biggie’s manager, added, “The Notorious B.I.G. is a once-in-a-lifetime talent. His work has been examined and reviewed before, but this series provides new stories and firsthand accounts by the people that were there. It’s something special.”

Iconic Records: Life After Death” will premiere on the new WMX Hip-Hop via the Roku Channel on April 29 at 8 PM ET/5 PM PST. The visual podcast can also be viewed on Biggie’s YouTube channel, while Iconic Records also comes to all major audio podcast platforms starting May 1st.
