I'm a sucker for some dope DIY music, and today we get just that with this latest OKP premiere. Moses Sumney is a name you should be hearing plenty of from here on out, so let this serve as your introduction, if you're not already up on game. Raised between L.A. and Ghana, Moses is a self-taught singer/songwriter, who has been championed by the likes of ?uestlove and KING, he currently shares a residency with the latter at the Bootleg Theatre in Los Angeles (catch them there this Friday). Today, we proudly premiere this live video of Moses performing his song, "Replaceable." Watch as he crafts every element of the song from scratch with nothing more than his vocals. The track touches on the fleeting nature of relationships and how in the end, we're all replaceable (get some words from Moses on the song, below). Video shot (one take, no edits) by Brain Cross aka B+ (of Mochilla). Enjoy that one, and expect to see Moses' name back on here, in the near future.

It started with a melody. Sometimes I hear overlapping vocal melodies and harmonies in my head, and need a way to bring them to life. That's why I started looping. So the most important part of that song, to me, is the moving melody. The lyrics kind of just came naturally. I tried to write a song that, instead of the typical "you're-no-good" break-up song, gives perspective into the psychological trauma that causes us to treat people like they're expendable, and how those are cyclical behaviors. (Listen to the 2nd verse.)
